CURRICULUM SUPPORT: Business & Economics (click here)
 
The Wall Street Journal's Markets Data Center: This site features market statistics, including full statistical reports on the economic indicators, such as consumer credit, consumer price index, retail sales and consumer sentiment, which economists use to gauge and forecast business conditions.
Federal Trade Commission's You Are Here: This site features interactive games and activities to teach kids aged 8-12 key consumer concepts, as well as the role of the FTC in American commerce. Teachers can use the site in classroom activities related to consumer economics, government, social studies, history, and language arts.
Monetta Young Investor Fund: This site features a mutual fund targeted at teenagers to help them develop basic financial life skills. This comprehensive investing program includes a kid-themed fund, investment kit, free college tuition credits, investment newsletter and various online games where teens can participate to win prizes.

CURRICULUM SUPPORT: Social Studies
 
The September 11th Education Program: This Web site, in partnership with socialstudies.com, offers a comprehensive curriculum on the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. Teachers can download lessons and videos and share information with other teachers in forums.
Kids Letters to Terrorists: Last summer in Israel, more than 1,300 Arab and Jewish teens took part in an interactive educational tolerance program spearheaded by The Shuchart Foundation. At the conclusion of the program, teens wrote letters to imaginary terrorists. The site also features Kids Letters to Bullies.

CURRICULUM SUPPORT: Science
 
Scitable: This Web site contains overviews of science concepts compiled by the editorial staff of Nature Publishing Group. It also has an online community that allows students and teachers around the world to work together.
eGFI: This Web site features an online magazine (for students, parents, teachers and counselors) by the American Society for Engineering Education. You can find news and resources about engineering, as well as advice on colleges.
Steve Spangler Science: Steve Spangler Science, once a Web site used to sell science supplies, is now filled with information and ideas to help teachers make science learning fun. There are links to experiments and a teacher training site, which provides links to local seminars.

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT & LESSON PLANNING
 
Curriki: Developed by Sun Microsystems, this site is trying to become a Wikipedia for educators by connection teachers around the world in hopes of sharing lesson plans, teaching activities, ideas and resources.
LearnCentral: Billed as "a new social learning network for education," LearnCentreal is similar to a social networking site where teachers can talk about issues in education. There are discussion groups and forums. The site is new so look for it to grow over the course of the school year.
Thinkfinity.org: This education initiative from the Verizon Foundation seeks to improve student achievement in traditional classroom settings through content (lesson plans and interactive activities) and professional development training. Thinkfinity's content partners include NCEE and NCTE.
